Percolating Points To Pursue

I have been consuming so much information lately through articles, books, and podcasts.

As a result, my mind is full of thoughts that I would like to share with you. My goal is to add value to you and empower you to lead and care for yourself and others. Let me know your thoughts on these topics and whether you're experiencing them in the workplace.

  1. Women's History Month—What's your reality on women's progress in the workplace compared to existing gaps? Some facts show that women's representation in the C-suite remains low, although it's growing. Latest stats show that women make, on average, .84 times what white males make, and women of color make less. Click here to read this interesting analysis. How are you measuring the progress? I also learned that companies that focus on inclusion, diversity, and equity employ a higher number of female leaders, and morale is higher.

  2. Mature employees are becoming more valued- I found this enlightening, especially as a baby boomer. In a recent Harvard Business Review podcast, the discussion centered around the significance of possessing attributes such as maturity, wisdom, and a solid commitment to adding value to others. The podcast emphasized the importance of focusing on these aspects instead of being overly concerned with climbing the corporate ladder. This topic was also explored in a Fortune article, which further highlighted the need for individuals to prioritize personal growth and the betterment of others over simply seeking career advancement. 3. Executive Presence—New Rules: The key points in this HBR article fit right in with the theme of my training and coaching on RElearning. I LOVED it! According to the article, inclusiveness has shot onto the list of the most valued components of the three dimensions of executive presence. To quote, "To be inclusive, you must not only hire people with diverse backgrounds and give everyone a fair shot at climbing the ladder. You must also ensure that all your employees feel appreciated and supported." OMG, it reinforced the value of what I call power skills (formerly known as soft skills.)
